Governance

Governance at Bournemouth Rugby

At Bournemouth Rugby, we are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment where everyone — from our youngest Lion Cubs to our senior players, coaches, volunteers, and supporters — can enjoy the game and feel valued as part of our community.

Our approach to governance ensures that all aspects of welfare, behaviour, and conduct across the club are managed with transparency, fairness, and care. This includes our safeguarding practices, disciplinary processes, complaints procedures, and our club-wide Code of Conduct.

We are proud to uphold the core values of Rugby Union:
Teamwork • Respect • Enjoyment • Discipline • Sportsmanship

These values guide everything we do — on and off the field — and form the foundation of our governance framework.

Safeguarding and Child Protection

The safety, welfare, and wellbeing of children, young people, and vulnerable adults are our top priority.
Bournemouth Rugby is fully committed to the RFU Safeguarding Policy, ensuring every participant can enjoy rugby in a positive and supportive environment, free from abuse or neglect.

If you have a concern about the welfare of a child or vulnerable adult, please contact:

Club Disciplinary and Complaints Procedures

Bournemouth Rugby’s Disciplinary and Complaints Procedures apply across all areas of the club — from Youth & Minis through to Senior rugby.

These procedures outline how we address both on-field and off-field matters, ensuring that all acts of indiscipline, complaints, or grievances are managed fairly, proportionately, and in confidence, in line with RFU Regulations and best practice.

While we aim to resolve most issues informally, where a formal investigation is required, our structured three-stage complaints process ensures clarity, transparency, and consistency throughout.

Whistleblowing and Reporting

Bournemouth Rugby fully supports the principles of whistleblowing as part of our good governance process.
We encourage all players, coaches, parents, and members to raise any concerns about poor practice, misconduct, or behaviour that goes against our club values.

Concerns can be raised confidentially with any club officer or submitted in writing to the Club Chair or Y&M Chair.
Anonymous reports are treated with equal seriousness, although investigation may be limited without further information.

Code of Conduct

Our Code of Conduct sets out the standards of behaviour expected from everyone involved with Bournemouth Rugby — players, parents, coaches, officials, and spectators.

We are committed to fostering a culture that:

- Promotes respect, inclusion, and team spirit

- Is free from abuse, discrimination, or harm

- Encourages everyone to act as positive role models and uphold the RFU Core Values
