Bournemouth Rugby is thrilled to announce the signing of American utility back Aaron Stevenson, who joins the squad ahead of the upcoming season.

Stevenson, a graduate of the University of Louisville and former Chicago Hounds Academy player, said the club’s ambition and culture were decisive in his move:

“When I talked to Will Croker and what he wanted to do at the club, it really interested me. It’s a club that’s going to help me take the next step. I knew I’d have to earn my place and that challenge is what separated Bournemouth from other clubs. They weren’t content; Will made it clear he was pushing for the highest level possible, and that’s what I loved to hear.”

He added that settling in has been made easier by the welcome he’s received from his new teammates:

“The guys have been so friendly and helpful. It’s faster here than in the States, but they’ve been great at pointing me in the right direction. I’m really excited about the season ahead and it’s going to be a hard fight to earn a spot, but that’s the fun of it. The depth of squad here is incredible.”

Director of Rugby Will Croker said Stevenson was a standout candidate among global interest:

“We had applications come in from all over the world such as Zambia, Fiji and Australia. However, Aaron stood out. He’s a utility back with experience at the Chicago Hounds Academy, and he’s hungry to grow his rugby education in a country where the game is more prolific. Everything about him smacks of a good guy.”

With Stevenson joining the squad, Bournemouth Rugby looks forward to an exciting season and to seeing his impact both on and off the field.
