Welcome

Bournemouth Rugby’s Ladies team are known as the Lionesses.

Bournemouth Lionesses are a new team for the 2021/22 season. During the season we will be building the squad with players joining us with a variety of experience, ladies moving up from the girls teams, experienced players, players coming back to rugby and new players. What ever your experience the Lionesses will welcome you into the team.

As we are a new team the Lionesses have been unable to join a league this season. The RFU will be keeping a close eye on the development of the squad so that they are placed into the correct league for 2022/23 season. We will be playing a variety of friendly games against clubs from around the UK throughout the season.

The Lionesses is a fun but competitive outfit with a focus on results. As our squad grows we aim to create further ladies teams, for keen players, particularly newcomers, to hone their skills and increase their rugby experience and game time before making their way up the Bournemouth rugby ladder.

training

The ladies ‘ teams train together, making it easy for players to make the transition between teams. Training for all teams takes place on ***************** evenings with a prompt 7 pm start. Most matches are held on a Sunday afternoon. We find this schedule works well as we can achieve a lot and cover a fair amount of work, with a schedule that is not overly demanding for the players. New players are always welcome, a assessment will be made to place you in either the gold or black squads. You can either just turn up or contact us via our roles page. The first few sessions are free, we will then ask you to purchase your membership for the season.

Strength & Conditioning

The club is striving hard to mirror the professionalism of the modern game. There is a healthy gym culture amongst the keener members of the club. We have also established a number of links with nutritionists and dietitians where more support is given to players about diet, the right and wrong things to eat, the right times to eat, hydration, and so on. We are sure that this dedication off the field will turn itself into wins on match-day.
