After a long season, Bournemouth U13’s qualified top of our East Dorset pool to play in the cup competition of the Dorset & Wilts Finals Festival in Melksham.
The competition was very tight and in the first game we were able to secure a 4-4 draw with a strong Dorchester team with a last-minute equalising try. We secured wins against Corsham and North Dorset before clinching the title with a win in the deciding match against a committed Chippenham team.
That we were able to retain our title from last year was the icing on the cake.
The whole squad showed great fortitude throughout the day and really played for each other. On top of the rugby, it’s always great to see the boys having fun and bonding as a team. The team demonstrate strong values and are a credit to the club.
The Finals event was really well managed and much appreciation goes to the referees on the day and the organisers at Melksham.
Big thanks as ever to the amazing coaches for their passion, commitment and humour through a long season and to the parents for the positive support from the touchlines. Thanks also to the sponsors and everyone at the club who enable the success.
After a well earned rest, our thoughts look to next season with a move up to 15-a-side and some new rules which will keep the coaches busy. We are always interested in welcoming new recruits into the fold.
