CS Stags vs. Bournemouth Lions

Date

After a triumphant weekend for the Wanderers and Vets, the spotlight now shifts to the Lions as they prepare to roar back into action against CS Stags in a crucial Regional 1 South Central Rugby clash on Saturday, December 2nd, 2023.

The Lions, adorned in their signature red and black, have showcased a season of highs and lows, with flashes of brilliance juxtaposed against moments of missed opportunities. Despite finding themselves at the bottom of the table, the Lions’ potential is undeniable, and Saturday’s game offers them a chance to turn the tide.

CS Stags, positioned mid-table in 6th with 25 points, stand as a formidable opponent. While their season has been a mix of victories and defeats, their ability to secure vital bonus points has set them apart. The Lions, lagging with 13 points, are determined to capitalize on CS Stags’ recent loss to Brighton and exploit their strengths in running the ball, a key asset for the Lions this season.

A historic Achilles’ heel for the Lions has been the scrum, but hope looms on the horizon with the return of key players. Lucca and Napier anchor the front row alongside Freddy Harding, providing a bolstered scrum. In the second row, Brett Pointing retains his spot, with Connor McCathrey joining him. The dynamic flankers, Reece Savage and Stan Vincent, bring their A-game, while Joe Desmond’s return from injury at No8 adds further depth to the back row.

The back row remains unchanged from their last outing against London Welsh, creating a cohesive unit that aims to take the game to CS Stags with relentless attack play. On the bench, the Lions boast strength in Henry Turner, Euan Tremlett, and the returning Maverick Goodchild.

This formidable lineup positions the Lions for a redemption match against CS Stags. The key strategy revolves around swift ball movement, exploiting attacking opportunities, and challenging CS Stags’ strong defense. Kick-off is set for 2 pm at King’s House Sports Ground, Duke’s Meadows Riverside Drive, Chiswick, London, W4 2SH.

For Lions supporters, a coach is available with seats priced at £10 each. Contact Gemma at operations@bournemouth-rugby.co.uk to secure your spot. It’s time for the Lions to rise, show their capabilities, and paint London red and black! 🦁🔴⚫️ #LionsRoar #RedemptionGame #BournemouthRugby 🏉✨
