At Bournemouth Rugby, we aim for children to have fun and learn rugby in a safe environment.

Under 6 Rugby is all about developing age appropriate rugby skills of 4 to 6 year old children before they move in Year 2 up to the Under 7s. Our players will learn basic movement skills by playing different games and introducing tag rugby. These skills include running, jumping, stopping, turning, and chasing. Players will learn to carry the ball, run into space, and support their teammates. They will have fun running around with both old and new friends. During the season we’re out in all weathers* on a Sunday so expect some muddy puddles (who doesn’t love a muddy puddle on a Sunday?).

Your young player can stay with us from under 6’s all the way to senior rugby, each year developing their rugby skills. We have a Kids First coaching philosophy, putting the child at the centre of coaching.

Bournemouth Rugby’s ethos aligns with the English RFU core values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship (TREDS). This is a special game and we have an inclusive culture which we want to share with the children and parents. From the weekly sessions we hold to certain weeks being themed and special events planned for throughout the season.
