Welcome

Bournemouth Wheelchair Rugby boasts two team’s. Our 1st team are known as the Lions. From beginners to experts we cater for all levels of ability and experience. Both teams play in various competitions throughout the year. We are an inclusive club and welcome all players to be part of the team. Bournemouth Wheelchair Rugby offers a great opportunity for players to develop their skills from a grass roots level and throughout their developing years with some players having been involved with the club since youth and others joining at a later stage.

Our goals

  • Attitudes – maintain the enjoyment of the game and the rugby values (Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship). Our players need to arrive at every session ready to train, wanting to give their best effort and aspiring to learn and improve.
  • Develop individual and team knowledge, skills and rugby experience.
  • Develop the physical condition of each player with sports specific training (aerobic fitness, strength and speed); to ensure they are prepared for the physical demands of the game.

A successful season is not about winning, it is about ensuring our players have improved their rugby ability and they have attained their personal goal of being a better player.

Our home Rossmore Leisure Centre, Poole they have ample parking for those with or without a disability. All new players are welcome, contact a member of the Coaching Team below.

Occasionally during the season we have home and away joint training with teams from across the region which gives the players excellent experience and also a number of away tournaments and competitions.
