Cathi Farrer is looking forward to bossing the England boys about at the Touch Rugby World Cup in Malaysia later this month.
The Bournemouth University graduate moved to the area in 2002 for her studies, and has been here ever since.
She now works for the Bournemouth Parks Foundation and says being outdoors in the local area fuels her enthusiasm for the sport.
She said: “I guess it is definitely a correlation as to why I first got into rugby with knowing all of the parks here in the area because I have played rugby in most of them at some point.
“I absolutely love being outdoors and love being in touch with nature.
“I have never been to Malaysia before so I am super excited to go there for the first time.”
Ferrer will run out for the Mixed Over 30s team in Kuala Lumpur – which sees three men and three women take to the field together.
From the Bournemouth Touch Rugby Team, Cathi Farrer and Kara Buckley will represent England in the Mixed 30s division.
Daniel Connolly and Nicholas Best will feature in the Men’s 35s tournament, and Shane Wilson has also been named in the Men’s 40s squad.
This is the first time Farrer has played at the six-day event, but England won bronze last time in 2015 behind New Zealand and Australia – who they face first on May 1.
Farrer says the two antipodean sides will be the ones to watch out for when the event gets underway.
She added: “It is six days of competition and with the Touch Rugby World Cup there are different age categories so I play in a Masters team so you have to be over 30 to play in my team.
“You can either play men’s touch, women’s touch or mixed and I play mixed as well so there are six people on the pitch and for the mixed team there will be three boys and three girls on the pitch at any one time.
“It is cool with everyone all playing on the same side together – it is definitely a unique dynamic when you have guys and girls playing on the same team.
“I guess I have played in my team for a couple of years now so I am very confident about bossing the boys around now which is normally what happens when I am on the pitch.”
